„Mat Intensive“ is a three day advanced education in three modules: „The principle of flow in a matclass“, „Mat with props“ and „Teaching methodology – verbal and tactile cueing“. This continuing education is for Pilates educational students as well as certified instructors, who like new input and deepen their knowledge. Instructors and students from all educational institutions are welcome to attend!

Course Contents:
Module 1: Achieving Flow in a Mat Class
Fluent transitions from one exercise to the other and the choreography/variations of individual exercises are the essentials of a mat class. Flow is one of the ten principles from Joseph Pilates and there for of a BASI Mat class. The structuring of a class according to the BASI Block System is a great support in terms of methodology and anatomy, gives the class a clear structure and at the same time maintaining flexibility.
With the aspect of flow concentration can be maintained throw the whole class unnecessary breaks can be avoided.
With a clear structure and clear transitions you can also guide larger groups and manage different levels to give each participant a secure and responsible guidance throw the class.
The challenge of guiding beginners throw class without breaks between the exercises will as well discussed and being practice after a short theory lecture. The workshop is mainly oriented to practice and develop variation and transitions.
Module 2: Mat Class with Props
The different props such as the Magic Circle, Foam roller, Pilates balls, Toning balls and elastic bands can be included in a BASI® Pilates mat program. Props can be used on different levels- to make exercises easier or to increase the level of difficulty in a mat class. Each prop has its unique quality and offers abundant variations of approach for the several needs of the participants and level of the exercises.
Module 3 Teaching Methodology: Verbal and Tactile Cueing
This course focuses on one of the main teaching tools: Cueing.
Cueing means communication and is an integrate part of a good session. Communication means skill/expertise: the information must be transferred, understood and integrated within milli seconds to achieve the goal. Good Cueing should be the base of each class.
In this course we related directly to the Pilates method we will mainly concentrate on verbal and tactile cueing and practice on and with each other. Because most then anything cueing needs experience.
